Sardinia-amore mio!

Since the weather in Germany is everything but summerlike-we decided to get away for a weekend....to a place Carlo and I both had not been to. Sardinia!!! We flew into the city of Olibia on the north-eastern coast and then drove ourselves near the city of Palau on the norhtern tip. Oh, it was woooonderful in every aspect!!! The water, the beaches, the surrounding nature, the food, the people, the FEELING that you get when you are there is something very special. The coastline with it's many rugged coves and beaches are something out of this world!!! Underwater visibility was like in Hawaii. Oh boy...must I go on??? Here a few pictues to share the many faces of Sardinia with you...

P.S. Carlo was finally able to get a few hours of windsurfing in!

Neuschwanstein here we come!!!

Finally, after having talked about this for several months - we did it!! We visited Schloss Neuschwanstein in all its splendor! King Ludwig II was a dreamer infatuated with myths and sagas. Seeing the castle from the inside and experiencing its gorgeous location was just wonderful! Unfortunately, we were not allowed to take pictures from the inside, but the outside views were just as nice!

A day in the ALPS!

Yesterday we decided to take advantage of our newly gained freedom (having wheels is awesome!) and decided to drive into the nearby Alps to visit a long time goal: Schloss Neuschwanstein!!!

We spent the night in Garmisch - Partenkirchen and were able to enjoy a beautiful afternoon. This included going on a summer-bobsled ride down a mountain, hiking a narrow, beautifully fierce gorge and having a very tyical dinner with traditional music and dance! Here a few pictures of our trip. We had a blast. Carlo had his first taste of BUTTERMILK and I think the picture says it all!! HAha! I tried to dissuade him, but without hesitation he took a big gulp, only to almost spit it out again. It was unbelievably sour!!! :-(

The pastures were so beautiful with their big brown and white cows, of which many of them wore large bells around their necks... Also, the local farmers were buzzing around like bees trying to move their fragrant summer hay into the barns. The bouquet of hay and mountain herbs was intoxicating!!! Aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhl!!

We've had a great weekend and hope you will enjoy the pictures!

Carlo's new toy!

FINALLY, FINALLY, we have a CAR!!!

Carlo is in 7th heaven-now the proud owner of a brand-new Mini Cooper S!

A picture says a thousand words!!!

June 10th - Ines is 30!!!

Dear Friends!

It's been a very long time since I've posted pics or anything else, BUT it was for good reason-as always! :-)
May was a VERY busy month for Carlo and I with travels including the US and many European cities. We all returned to Munich just in time for a big celebration in my life. My dearest girlfriends and a few other lovely people were the perfect company for a dinner on June 9th to celebrate my 30th birthday. Thanks to all their help we enjoyed a wonderful time with many Italian appetizers, two different types of Pasta, grilled meats and the best birthday cake I've had in decades!!! As expected, Carlo's Pasta was the hit of the evening though. :-) Close to midnight people started dissappearing from the table and I had my suspicions to where they might have gone... undoubtably next door to light the candles on the cake which were an awesome sight! Thanks you guys! After blowing out the candles on the cake and a champagne toast ... and a few tears, we endulged in the 6 layer strawberry cake and enjoyed a lovely end of the night. I think every room beside the dining room was occupied by sleeping guests. It was wonderful - THANK YOU!!!

Without further ado, I wanted to post a few pics from that evening.
More posts to follow soon....

Best wishes to all of you,
Love Ines

Our first visitors!

Our good friends Björg and Abdul and their son Isaac were our first visitors this past weekend! Marienplatz, the English Garden, Weissbier, Pretzels and lots of Weisswuerstel kept us busy. We even made it to the Zoo! :-)
We had a great time and look forward to seeing them soon in California.
