Madame Tusseau's Wax Museum, London

Here a few pics from my visit to the famous wax museum!
A couple of nights earlier, Carlo had been there with his company and their clients, having the museum all to themselves! I wasn't as lucky, but nevertheless, it was amazing to see all these life-like replicas of famous stars, celebrities and even royalty.. ;-)

Sunset...London

We rounded out the day with a drink at a pub near the Thames river...
The sunset was beautiful, alluminating the houseboats and brick buildings with a golden and red hue...

Borrough Street Market, London

On Saturday afternoon we dove into the throngs of people visiting the Borrough Street Market, close to London Bridge. One area of the market offered a cornucopia of food stands with grilled meats and cheeses - the other foods ranging from produce to fish, to handmade truffle chocolates, pasta and cheeses... Even multicolored cauliflower!!!We let ourselves be swept away with the crowds sampling our way through buffala mozzarella, pasta, prosciutto, chocolates and truffle oil...mmmmmm....

Glimpses of London...

On my bus tour I tried capturing the magnificent buildings and views as I was seeing them. The city seemed so much more beautiful and ornate as I had remembered... Wow!!!
Tower Bridge, The London "Eye", Big Ben, Westminster Abbey...

Weekend in London, England!

Carlo and I spent a weekend in London recently. He had been in town for a business conference-for me it was a return visit with at least 12 years in between visits!

I flew in on a Thursday evening, and spent Most of Friday (all 3 1/2 hrs) on an open bus sightseeing tour, as I REALLy wanted to see as much as I could in one day!
The weather was balmy with sunny skies and warm temps.

Trafalgar Square & National Galleries, White Hall!

life...

...is keeping us busy! Last Thursday I joined Carlo in London for a few days of sightseeing and soaking up the crazy-busy life in this massive city. The weather was unseasonably warm and we enjoined long hours of sunshine every day.

Pictures and personal accounts to come...

Currently I'm bogged down by a monster cold and Carlo is out on business travel until Sunday. More updates soon!

Oktoberfest 2008

Visions from a very blurry and beer-filled evening at the "Wiesn"!

Notice Carlo's and my traditional dress! Lederhosen and Dirndl!

Our clothing adventure proved to be a science all in itself with hidden pockets and buttons, as well as encoded messages about one's marital status depending on which side the women tie their apron on...
...yet amidst all the rowdy beer-drinking mayhem we found people less concerned about traditions and customs and as the night went on - increasingly concerned where to eat and how to manage a ride home or to one of the many "after parties". Taxis were in high demand and very choosy who they would chauffeur... we ended up on the nearby train platform, catching a tram for one station and walking the rest of the 15 minutes to our apartment. All in all a very fun night, with just enough beer to make us feel a slight hangover the next day. :)
